Tank in the spotlight,November 2011
Mon Oct 31, 2011 19:58
![]() We are refreshing the forum,as things have got forgotten about over the past few months.
Ive decided to start with an easy tank in the spotlight...my own We will be asking members,if they would like to do a write up,of their own tank, and put it in the spotlight each month. Kathateria’s Tank in the Spotlight ![]() Juwel trigon 350 I bought this second hand, from ebay. It was the biggest we could possibly fit in our front room! Heater This is just a cheap one,off ebay.It was £8.99,with a free guard. This blends in really well with the background! It had the internal juwel filter when I bought it, but I cut it out with a kitchen knife. I had all the right tools! Lighting Standard tubes. It is the older version, not the t8’s.But they do the job nicely. The filter ![]() FX5, filled with foams, matrix and purigen.I only run 1 filter. My nitrates from the tap are 20,so I do large changes weekly,50% I decided to record when I last did my filter clean,so I wrote it on the instruction book. I think 2 months is fine, for a quick sludge rinse, and clear the sand out of the cylinder! The rocks were borrowed off Mother nature’s beach, There are some tubes/shelves, under the rocks, along the side walls of the tank. These allow me to stack rock, without water displacement. I tried plants, several times.Spent about £100 I reckon. They just got eaten, and chewed to the roots! I got some fake plants from sydeco, which I really like. Not too sure about other peoples view on them! Suppliers Most of my equipment is bought off the internet! Warehouse aquatics for the filter £159, my lfs quoted me £290 for the same filter! The fish came from various places. A-Z aquatics in Balterley Mike Bonnick Natural World Bridgemere (syno) Private breeders. The fish 2 yellow labs (was 5,but they were all males) ![]() 7 melanochromis interuptus ![]() ![]() 3 reverse trio elongates mpanga ![]() 8 maingano ![]() 3 reverse trio membe deep ![]() ![]() 6 tropeops makokola reef ![]() ![]() 6 Afra hara ![]() 6 syno, hybrids I think ![]() 2 albino bristlenose plecs. ![]() ![]() 2 flavus, ![]() I need some more females of membe, labs and mpanga. The background is just plastic plain back drop. I put in a lovely piece of bogwood, from Ian, which hides the intake pipe beautifully! Here is little Bob,the baby Hara.See the size of him, compared to the adults! ... [Read full article]
